Welcome
The Southdown Gliding Club welcomes ALL visitors and you can learn more about the club, and the sport through this website. The club was founded in 1930, and the webcam view below shows our airfield looking North East towards the trailer park. We successfully purchased our airfield and buildings from our landlord in January 2009. Currently we have over 250 members, which makes us one of the oldest and largest (all volunteer) gliding clubs in the United Kingdom. Young and want to fly, but not sure if you can afford it.? Check the Cadet Scheme for details. If you have any other questions about the club or our services, please check our FAQ and Fees pages. Alternatively, you can call the office weekday mornings (9:30-12:00, Mon - Fri) and speak to Jackie by dialing 01903 742137 or by clicking on the "Gliding Enquiries" button on the left hand menu. Please note we can accept bookings online, over the telephone or in person, payment by debit or credit card is acceptable and you can buy a gift voucher for someone else as a present.

Keep our Water Utility Charges Low..
Club NewsPlease click on the Downing Street Petition below if you support the goal
of keeping Water rates low for Community Amateur Sports Clubs (like
Southdown). Plans, if implemented, could see substantial increases in
our costs due to the area that we occupy and the water that is collected
when it rains, which has to be disposed of by the Water services. This would
likely be tied to our acerage and could be very significant.  The petition,
below, allows you to register your objection to this plan and takes about
1-2 minutes to complete.

Your support is appreciated.
